Congratulations to our African Drummers who won first place at Newry Feis last week. Well done boys and girls. Thank you to Mrs O’Hare and Jimmy Hagan (EA Music Service) for organising the African Drums.

Table Tennis

Congratulations to our P6 Table Tennis Team who won the Ulster Primary School Table Tennis Team Event (Banbridge Region) prior to the Easter break. Well done to our P7 team who received the Bronze medal in their section.

Shannaghmore Visit

Well done to all our P7 children who attended Shannaghmore Outdoor Education Centre last week. Shannaghmore staff remarked on how polite, well-mannered and well-behaved all the children were. The boys and girls had a terrific time. Well done everyone! Thank you to Mr Mackle, Miss Mackin, Mrs Lennon, Miss Farrell, Mr McKay, and Mrs Comiskey for attending with the children.

School PTA

Thank you to our PTA for kindly sponsoring our new ‘gardening’ green house. Our gardening club is very thankful.

Calling all footballers! Our PTA & EVO Soccer School are organizing a ‘Fun Football’ tournament for friends and parents of St Mary’s on Tuesday 3 May at Cheney Park from 7pm. The tournament is open to all at £10 per person. Teams will be picked randomly from all entrants. We hope to play a round-robin tournament of 6 teams of 7/8 players with semifinals and a final at the end. So why not come along and have a kick about and raise much needed funds for our PTA. Registration forms will be issued next week.

No Dogs Please

Please do not bring dogs onto school premises at any time. Some of our children are petrified of dogs; they also create a health hazard by fouling on areas where children play.

School Certificates

Congratulations to Kori McKinley, Lukasz Rak, Jay O’Neill, Naoimi Reilly, Charlotte Paine, Eoin Eakins, Luca Scappaticci, Conor Hutchinson, Luke Balchin, Niamh McNally, Kate Smith, Tom Jordan, Jonathan Burke, James Curran, Fionntan Keenan, Maria Convery, Sorcha White, Dylan Thompson, Eireann Wolfe, Jay McDowell, Cathair Ruddy, Aoife Gallagher, Darren Cousins, Declan McCourt, James Dixon, Amy Reilly and Ryan Cormican on being awarded a class certificate for good work during the week ending 8 April. Well done to all the boys and girls who have been working extremely hard.

School Build

Please continue to check the school website for updated photographs of progress on the new school site.

Parking

Please continue to use St Therese’s car park to avoid congestion on the Scarva Road. There is limited parking available in St Patrick’s car park. The drop-off arrangements are working well and we would encourage parents to either park in St Therese’s car park, if you wish to escort your child to the school playground, or use the supervised drop-off points in St Patrick’s car park.

Please do not park in Clan na Banna car park. This is for staff parking only. Please avoid parking on the main road near our entrance and where our Traffic Patrol man operates. This is dangerous as it blocks his vision for crossing children.

Please be aware that Police and Traffic Wardens will be patrolling the Scarva Road area, in the mornings, to combat cars parking illegally or dangerously.
