September Newsletter

2nd Oct 2018

St Mary’s is a Nut Free school.

We have number of children throughout the school who have a severe nut allergy. Please do not send any snacks that may contain nuts, traces of nut or nut extract.

School Fund

A voluntary contribution of £10 per child or £20 for a family is requested to our school fund. As in previous years, this money will be used to enhance your child's learning environment and help purchase school resources.

If paying the total amount at once is inconvenient, please feel free to pay on a termly or monthly basis. A slip is attached below for your payment. I thank you in advance for what I am sure will be a generous response to this request.

Please return to your child's class teacher or directly to the school office.

EVO Football League

Congratulations to St Mary's A team on their shared victory in the first round of the EVO League 2018/19 yesterday. After a tricky first game against Edenderry St Mary's comfortably won their remaining games to reach the semifinal against St Malachy's, Castlewellan, who proved strong opposition. In the final against Bridge Primary School St Mary's boys struggled to find their best form but managed to get a 0-0 draw to share the points and lead the League with Bridge. Well done to Mark McCann, Tomas Olarte-Wade and Pierce White and who all had an excellent tournament.

Our B team had mixed fortunes in their league only conceding two goals in 6 games. Unfortunately, poor finishing again let the boys down. Well done to Dan McAvoy, Joseph McCorry and Jarlath McGinley who all had an excellent tournament for the B Team.

Thank you to Sean Devlin for helping with the football and our appreciation to Paul Evans and EVO Skills for organising the tournament. Our next tournaments are Wednesday 10 October at Brackenagh West PS, from 1.00pm and the second round of the EVO league on Thursday 11 October 9.30am.
