St Mary's Primary School Banbridge

Arts Council Grant, Music to the Ears.

18th Mar 2021

School Musical co-ordinator for St Mary’s PS Banbridge, Mrs Margaret O’Hare, said she was delighted to hear that her school had been allocated £2470.00 from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and the Department of Communities for musical development.

“This funding will enrich our children’s musical education and experiences as it has allowed us to purchase a wide variety of instruments,” said Mrs O’Hare.

Provisions already exist in the school for pupils to learn the piano, guitar, recorder and African drums. However, this funding has enabled the school to add Samba Drums, Bass Guitar, Stratocaster Guitar and much more to the school’s collection. As a result, Mrs O’Hare believes that the more variety the more likely children at the school will engage with medium of music.

“Having such a wide variety of musical instruments has us excited at the prospect of expanding our group ensembles.”

“I would also like to take this opportunity, on behalf of myself our school Principal, Mr O’Hagan, to thank both the Arts Council of Northern Ireland as well as the Department for Communities for providing us with this fantastic opportunity.”
