Be Kind to your Mind - Yellow Day Celebrations – Primary 2

10th Oct 2025

Primary 2 at St Mary’s was bursting with brightness and joy as we celebrated Yellow Day—a special occasion dedicated to promoting mental wellbeing, emotional awareness, and the power of kindness and connection.

Our young learners explored the importance of keeping our brains healthy and happy. Through thoughtful discussions, we are learning that just like our bodies need exercise and good food, our minds need care too—through rest, play, talking, and expressing how we feel.

We talk about our feelings—the happy ones, the sad ones, the excited ones, and even the ones that feel a bit tricky. We remind ourselves that all feelings are okay, and it's important to talk about how we feel and why we feel that way. Sharing our emotions helps us understand ourselves and others better, and builds a stronger, kinder classroom community.

A highlight of the day was our Cake and Bun sale, which brought smiles to every face. The atmosphere was one of happiness and inclusion; the hall was transformed into a bright and inviting space full of warmth and cheer. A heartfelt thank you to Mrs Devlin (P1), Mrs Duggan, Mr Devlin, our caretaker, Mrs Comiskey and Mrs Russell for their work setting up the hall so quickly and beautifully. Thank you to the boys and girls in Primary 7 who were so welcoming behind the cake stands, supporting our little ones with choices and handling the money.

To the Staff of St Mary’s, a huge thank you for your overwhelming generosity in supplying such a delicious array of treats.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our amazing parents, carers, and pupils, for their unwavering support and kindness—your contributions made the day truly special.

We would like to remind everyone to add a touch of yellow to brighten your day and lift your mood. Whether it’s a yellow ribbon, a sunny smile, or a kind word—let’s keep spreading joy and positivity every day.
