Egg-citing Easter Adventures: P7 and Primary 2 Buddy Up Day

11th Apr 2025

Our P2 students had the delightful opportunity to buddy up with the Primary 7 boys and girls, once again, for a fun-filled Easter-themed play session. The event was designed to foster camaraderie, enhance learning, and celebrate the joy of Easter through various engaging activities.

Painting Eggs: The day kicked off with a creative session where the children painted Easter eggs. The P7 students guided their younger buddies in using vibrant colours and imaginative designs, resulting in a beautiful array of decorated eggs.

Easter Word Hunt: The children had to find, read and record the high frequency words on the Easter eggs. This activity not only added an element of adventure but also helped the Primary 2 students enhance their vocabulary in a fun and interactive way.

Water and Sand Play: The children enjoyed playing with water and sand, which included eggs, chicks, and rabbits. This sensory play activity allowed the children to explore textures and engage in imaginative play, fostering their creativity and fine motor skills.

Reading and Writing Words: The P7 buddies assisted the Primary 2 students in reading and writing Easter-related words. This activity was aimed at improving literacy skills while also reinforcing the theme of the day.

Practising Easter Egg Doubles: Using the interactive whiteboard, the children practiced doubling numbers with an Easter egg theme. This number activity was both educational and entertaining, helping the Primary 2 students grasp the concept of ‘doubling’ in a visually engaging manner.

The children were highly engaged and excited; their enthusiasm was palpable, making the morning very productive and enjoyable for everyone involved.

The P7 Buddy Up Day was a resounding success, filled with laughter, learning, and the spirit of Easter. The Primary 2 students benefited greatly from the guidance and support of their P7 buddies, and the older students enjoyed the opportunity to mentor and bond with their younger peers. This event not only celebrated Easter but also strengthened the sense of community within our school. A big thank you to all the Primary 7 children from Mr Devlin’s class for their enthusiasm and leadership whilst facilitating the activities. We look forward to more such enriching experiences in the future.
