St Mary's Primary School Banbridge

Seapatrick 5K/10K/Fun Run

12th Apr 2022

The PTA of St Mary’s Primary School extend its gratitude to all those who supported the Seapatrick 5K/10K, Fun Run yesterday. It was a phenomenal success. Almost 4oo participated in this event… the largest number of entrants ever to take part. The PTA welcomed a diverse range of athletes competing in the chipped 5K/10K challenge; with competitors from near and far - Dublin, Skerries, Belfast, Lisburn, Dollingstown, Dundrum, Portadown, Gilford, Dromore, Tipperary, Rathfriland, Hilltown, Lugan, Strabane, Moira, Laurencetown, Magheralin, Annaclone, Newry, Aghaderg, and of course, our very own Banbridge Town.

The 5K Fun Run/Walk proved to be a fun filled family day out; it was great to see so many of our pupils and their families/extended families, taking part. We are so proud of every boy and girl who participated in the race/fun run/walk… you are a credit to your families and our school.

The feedback from the general public has been overwhelmingly positive.  The community was buzzing to be able to partake in such an event, following restrictions due to the Covid pandemic.

The Board of Governors, Principal, staff and pupils of St Mary’s, would like to thank the PTA for planning, organising and delivering such a memorable day for our school and local community. Credit to the PTA sub-committee, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, to ensure the success of the 5K/10K fundraiser. We are extremely privileged to have such an active and vibrant PTA.

Thank you to our local Gaelic Club, Clann Na Banna, and committee members, for allowing us the use of their club house and grounds to help facilitate this event. We are proud of the strong, well- established links our school shares and enjoys with Clann Na Banna.

Thank you to the main sponsors of the event – GM Construction and to the many other businesses who sponsored the 5K/10K; please visit our PTA Facebook page for a full list of sponsors.

A special word of thanks to all of the following organisations for their support: Elite Timing, St John’s Ambulance for providing First Aid on the day; all those who donated refreshments for during and after the race, Athletics Ni; Evo Soccer; DJ Greener, Inspire Wellness, Quails, and Tesco’s.

The PTA should be so proud of the success of the 5K/10K event. We look forward to 2023!
