Vice Principal Appointment

Congratulations to Miss Joan Kelly who was appointed Vice Principal to our school.

Football Team Victory

Congratulations to our football team who won the South Down 5-a-side competition at Kilkeel. This is the fourth victory for St Mary’s in the past five years.  All the boys played fantastically well. Well done to Tyler Kerr and Joseph McCorry, both boys had an outstanding tournament. Our appreciation to Mr. Devlin for taking the boys to the tournament.

Congratulations to our school A team on reaching the semi-final of the EVO League 2019/20. The boys played exceptionally well to comfortably win all their league games to reach the semi-final against Bronte Primary School. Unfortunately, fate played a part in their defeat with the wind catching a high ball into the keeper’s area sweeping the ball over the goalkeeper’s head. Well done to Joseph McCorry, Jason Sands and Riley Hesketh who all had an excellent tournament for the A Team.

Our B team had mixed fortunes only being defeated in one of their league games and narrowly missed out on a semi-final spot due to goal difference.  Well done to Jamie Watson, Darragh Woods, Jarlath McGinley and Leon Brodacki who all had an excellent tournament for the B Team.

Thank you to Sean Devlin for helping with the football and our appreciation to Paul Evans and EVO Skills for organising the tournament.

Our Under 10 teams finished in first and second places with great performances from Conor Quinn, Ryan Cairns, Danny Burns and Cameron Richardson who won gold and Aaron Duffy, Jayden Turland, Vartan Kolulaian and Sean Convery who received silver medals in the Ulster Primary School Table Tennis Team Event (Banbridge Region). Well done to all the girls and boys who took part. Please see the school website for photographs.

Athletics Success

Congratulations to Annie McEvoy and Isabelle Rea who represented our school in the Northern Ireland Cross Country Championship finals last week. The girls were up against the best runners from each area throughout Northern Ireland. Both girls did extremely well with Annie finishing in a very impressive 19th place and Isabelle in 75th position from 214 competitors. This is a fantastic accomplishment for both girls. We are extremely proud of the them. What an achievement! Well done!!

Afterschool Club

Please note children attending the Afterschool Club must be booked in advance via the school office or directly through Afterschool Club. A space cannot be guaranteed for children not booked to attend.

Parking

The school car park is for staff parking only. Parents should park in the Parish Centre if they wish to escort their child to the playground.

If dropping off at the school, please use the drop off bays. These are drop off bays not parking bays. Children can access both playgrounds from the bays. Supervision is in place from 8.50am. There is a set of steps next to the nursery which leads directly into the bottom playground. Children do not need to cross any roads or walk through the car park when using these steps.

Please do not park in the disabled bays, these are for 'disabled badge holders' only. There is no reason why anyone else would need to use these parking bays.

On wet or icy days children may enter their classrooms directly from 8.50am. P3 children may use the main entrance at this time. There will be no access before 8.50am.

Thank you for adhering to the above arrangements.
